8 - 12 Jul 2024 - PhD student Alexandru Holca had the oral presentation entitled "Second near-infrared gold nanorods as thermoplasmonic nanogenerators" at the 22nd International Conference on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena (ICPPP22), Coimbra, Portugal.
Jun 2024 - PhD student Daria Stoia won a scholarship within the program "Bourses France Excellence Roumanie" (French Government Scholarships) 2024, provided by the French government for Romanian students in order to promote educational exchanges and strengthen the academic ties between France and Romania. Daria won with her project entitled: "Novel plasmon-assisted biosensor for detection of cardiac Troponin I biomarker".
18 Jun 2024 - PhD student Ismaël Mahboub, from the Doctoral School of Physics of our university, won the 1st place at the 7th edition of the International French-speaking competition "My Thesis in 180 Seconds", a competition organized by the University Agency of Francophonie in Central and Eastern Europe (AUF-BECO) and the French Institute in Romania at Bucharest (IFR). Ismaël won with his thesis « La nano-detection, le futur de la mécine » ("Nanodetection, the future of medicine"). Sentence from the speech translated: “The subject of my thesis involves the development of nanobiosensors, combining the prowess of nanotechnology and medicine in order to detect the smallest anomalies of the organism."

16 - 17 Apr 2024 - We are excited to announce the arrival of our new QCM-D (Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation)! Two of our dedicated students have been thoroughly trained on this cutting-edge technology, which will significantly enhance our research capabilities. The QCM-D technique allows us to precisely measure mass changes and analyze viscoelastic properties at the molecular level, providing real-time, highly sensitive insights into surface interactions. This advanced tool will enable us to delve deeper into biophysical and biochemical phenomena, pushing the boundaries of our research and leading to groundbreaking discoveries in the field of bioplasmonics.

6 Oct 2023 - Prof. Dr. Marc Lamy de la Chapelle, Conf. Dr. Monica Focsan and PhD student Daria Stoia visited Prof. Dr. Luciano de Sio's Nanobiophotonics Laboratory, part of the Department of Medico-Surgical Sciences and Biotechnologies at Sapienza University of Rome .
23 May 2023 - The financing contract was signed at the headquarters of the Government of Romania, in the presence of the prime minister, the ministers of research and education, as well as other officials
